Don't forget to Floss

Now after Kaitlin has brushed her teeth (which she usually likes to do a few times a day) she insists on flossing. Personally I think she just likes the flavor of it but maybe she really is just interested in good personal hygeine. Here are some cute pictures I took of her in action!

Spring Break

What a chilly spring break we had!! We went to my sister's house for a few days and then on to my mom's.

We arrived on Monday afternoon at Stacey's and got settled before going out to dinner. Tuesday morning we went to visit GiGi and later after dinner we went to the outlet mall. Wednesday we just kind of had an around the house day. Dad and Gail came for a visit and lunch. They broght the kids all kinds of goodies from their house that they were trying to get rid of. Later that night I met my mom at the mall. We had dinner and then the kids went on the carousel (2 times). Kaitlin wasn't so sure about it at first but then she had to go again. She said she wanted to ride the "Princess Ponies." Soon after our vacation went all down hill. Kaitlin got sick at the mall. We immediatly left and she was getting sick all night long. Thursday afternoon she was feeling better. We went to mom's on Thurday and left on Saturday. Friday she and Ryan went to the movies and saw Meet the Robinson's in 3-D. Jack came over and visited too. Mom also bought a coconut for Ryan. He has been wanting to see what a "real" coconut is like and taste the milk inside. It was quite a job opening but he thought it was very cool. He kept a chunk of the shell. We went to the park on Saturday and then left about 4pm b/c we were suppose to have some severe weather on Sunday. About 30 mins into the car ride home, Ryan started getting sick. All the way home, 3 hours of getting sick in the car. What a nightmare. But he was really good about it. We had a bag and we stopped a few times. He was sick just that night and then fine.

We are all glad to be home and feeling better.

Happy Easter

Everyone had fun dying eggs to prepare for a visit from the Easter Bunny! Ryan wrote a note for him asking if he like big or little carrots and to please hide his eggs HARD this year. Kaitlin wasn't too much into dying the eggs yet this year but she liked putting the stickers on them.

Easter morning we got up and hunted for eggs around the house. We had one rule. Ryan could only find eggs that were above his waiste. If they were lower than his waist then the bunny left them for Kaitlin. They both did a really great job. Ryan was stumped by two of the eggs but with help from daddy he found them. Later that day we had a nice dinner and a little fish fry. Chris had been out on his friends boat the day before and they caught some flounder. He shared it with 2 of our neighbors since the kids and I don't eat fish. :)

Easter Egg Hunt

Today we had an easter egg hunt at one of the ladies homes that's in our mom's group. It was such a nice day out. I'm glad that Kaitlin go to wear her new froggie dress. I had to bribe her to wear it. She's not really into dresses unless it's her idea of course. This year Kaity learned that there's sometimes chocolate inside the candy eggs. She wanted to open all of them and eat the treats! After we got home and she took a nap I had to hide the eggs!

Happy Birthday Jack

Mom and Jack came to vist the next weekend just after Jack's birthday. I made him some beef stew for Friday nights dinner. I also made a chocolate chocolate cake which everyone enjoyed!! We sang happy b-day and opened some gifts. Jack always gets chocolate chip cookies from me and what every else as a present. He has a "refillable" jar at home that I gave him. He gets it filled pretty often. Saturday was a gorgeous day so we played outside with the kids almost all day. We went out to dinner on Saturday to Kelly's. Sunday mom and Jack left. We all had a good visit. It's always short but nice too see them.

St. Patrick's Day at the Children's Museum

Saturday we went to the Children's Museum in Portsmouth. We have been many times and love it so I wanted to take Stacey and Meagan too. We had a good time going to the pretend grocery store and bank. There were life size bubbles to be made and the kids could get in a bus and fire truck. We saw lots of trains and played in the upstairs play area before leaving. It was information overload!!

The Jumpin' Monkey

Aunt Stacey and Cousin Meagan came down for a visit this past Thursday. Friday we drove into Virginia Beach and went to a bounce house called the Jumpin' Monkey. Since one of Kaitlin's favorite things to do is to "Jump like tigger" I thought she'd have a great time. I don't think she was sure at first but soon got into it. There were 6 large bouncers and lots of toys to play with. There were also dress ups to try on but who wants to take time to do that when they can be jumping? It was such a horrible rainy day this was the perfect thing to go do. The girls had a good time and got nice and worn out.

Enjoy the slide show from the Jumping Monkey at the top of the post.

The Greatest Show on Earth

Sunday, March 4th we took Ryan and Kaitlin to the Circus at the Hampton Colliseum. We kept it a secret from them. Ryan was making a lot of guesses on the way there. First he said circus, then it was farm, zoo, somewhere with animals... Well he should have stuck with his first instincts. We had great seats right on the arena floor. Chris was quick to give the kids the total circus experience by buying them popcorn and cotton candy. The cotton candy came in a tall circus hat and Kaity had a good time wearing that. She sat very still for the entire performance. I think her favorite things were the Elephants. There were 10 different ones. Ryan has told us his favorite things were the dogs. I have to admit they were pretty cute. He just wishes our dog could do tricks like that! We had a wonderful time and will definately try to go again next year.

Happy Valentine's Day

What a busy day we had! Kaitlin of course started the day w/ having to wear her Valentine's Day dress from last year. Well, that would have been fine if it fit. It was about two sizes too small. I used the little bit of fashion sense I have left and she ended up looking adorable. I tried really hard to get a good picture but from the slide show, you can see she didn't really want to cooperate. She did sit still long enough for me to braid her hair. It was an experiment but ended up great.

We went to Ryan's school for his class party. He loves to show off his little sister. All of his classmates want to play with her. Luckily the party was cut a little short so Kaitlin still had time to get home and have a nap.

Daddy surprised us and came home early. We opened our presents to each other. Ryan got an extra special gift. For getting straigh A's again in school - a new Nintendo Wii. We ordered Chinese for dinner and the boys played with the Wii the rest of the night.

Valentine's Cookies

Ryan and Kaitlin got a Valentine package from Aunt Stacey and had to dig in right away. It was a cookie kit to make your own heart cookies. It included bright red icing, sprinkles and candy hearts. Ryan was very creative and took a lot of time to make a beautiful cookie (that he hasn't eaten yet). I helped Kaity out a little. She had a lot of fun decorating and sampling the icing.

Playing Pretend

A few days ago Kaitlin wanted to play with her vanity. She really spent a lot of time with it this day so I decided to take some pictures of her. She put on her lipstick, her nail polish, checked in the mirror to make sure everything was OK and then she started accessorising. We even put curlers in her hair but she didn't like me taking a picture of that - what girl would?

Pine Wood Derby

Saturday, January 27th was Ryan's first ever Pine Wood Derby. He and Chris (well mostly Chris) had been working on and off for about 3 weeks to get his car ready. They collaborated on a design and color scheme. When we got to the derby racing site they asked us the name of our car. We hadn't named it so the man registering us named it "Blue Streak". Ryan's car did very well, winning him 1st place in his division. Funny thing is, there were only 2 of them. He and his other Tiger Cub pal are going to Districts in March to race against the other Tiger Cubs in the area. For winning first place Ryan got a medal to put on his uniform.

January SNow Showers

Well it was nice while it lasted. Even though there was barely any accumulation in the 20 min snow shower Ryan and Kaitlin wanted to go out and play in it. Ryan even layed down to make snow angels in the dusting. The last time it snowed was the day after Christmas in 2004. Kaitlin was too young to remember it. She thought this was kind of fun but didn't like the cold. She kept telling me, "it cold outside." I is freezing today only 19 when we got up but felt like 5-10 b/c of the wind chill. That's the coldest it's been. The high today is only 38. Luckily it's going to be 50's tomorrow. Back to the average.

Not for the Faint of Heart

Ryan started 2007 with a bang - to the back of his head. This was followed by a trip to the ER for what we thought would be stitches but nope, he got staples - 2 of them. He was playing in the playroom and went to sit down but missed the chair, fell back and hit his head on the chair. There was blood everywhere! He was scared b/c of the blood and it was really painful. After cleaning him up and calming him down Chris took Ryan across the street to the hospital. They were there for 4 1/2 hours! Good thing there's Tivo, daddy had set aside this night to watch the season premier of his favorite show, 24.

The next day Ryan was upstaged by his Pop Pop who had hip replacement surgery and got 16 staples - now they have something else in common. (My dad is doing great and his home from the hospital now).

Today we went to the doctor and had the staples removed. He's glad they are gone so no one asks to see them any more. I know this is probably not the last time but hopefully it will be a long time before we see another injury.

Little Miss Kait

Well, we have recovered from Christmas and New Years and are trying to get our lives back on track. It has taken a little longer than I thought it would. I can't wait for spring so we can clean out/purge the house of all the unwanted things that we have. There's more than I'd like to admit. We have found at least "temporary" homes for all of the new Christmas toys. Kaitlin has taken a liking to her new chair, her new laptop and her Beauty Boutique. Kaity and mommy also have some great news to report - Kaitlin is a big girl now and goes to bed all on her own with no "assistance" needed. She does equally well for both Mommy and Daddy. This was my new year's resolution and so far it's a keeper. If only losing about 10 lbs was so easy!

Meagan Turns 2

Happy Birthday Meagan!! On Saturday, December 30th at 4pm we went to Meagan's Jo Jo's Circus Party. All day Kaitlin was asking when we were going to "go party eat cake". There were are a lot of people there but be had a good time. Meagan got lots of presents and the kids enjoyed eating messy cupcakes! Now that we are home Kaitlin still talks about the Jo Jo party and wants us to go to another party. I think that's because she wants more cake. Here are some pictures from the party.
